Ink N Souls — Poetry Publishing Platform
A community poetry platform where poets publish, discover, and share original verse — organised by mood and category
Ink N Souls is a digital literary community and poetry publishing platform — a home for poets and poetry lovers to discover, submit, and celebrate original verse. The platform features user registration and authentication, poem submission with image uploads, category-based browsing by mood (Love, Life, Nature, Sadness, Hope, and more), a curated featured poems section, and individual poem detail pages. Built with Core PHP and MySQL, it is designed to feel like a living, breathing archive of creative expression.
My role: Full-stack development from architecture to deployment.
Poets, especially emerging or independent voices, have no dedicated platform that treats poetry as a first-class medium — most social platforms are too noisy and algorithmic, while existing poetry sites are either outdated or too gatekept. Ink N Souls was built to create a calm, focused digital sanctuary where anyone can submit original work, browse by emotional category, and feel part of a genuine literary community rather than a content feed.
Built entirely in Core PHP with MySQL for a lightweight, fast-loading platform that doesn't require a heavy framework — appropriate for a content-first product where page speed and readability matter most. The mood-based category system was designed as a simple but emotionally resonant navigation layer, letting readers find poems that match how they feel rather than searching by keyword. Poem image uploads are stored per-poem with unique identifiers to avoid conflicts. The frontend aesthetic — dark tones, serif-inspired typography, generous whitespace — was deliberately chosen to feel like a literary journal rather than a social feed, keeping the focus entirely on the writing.
